Jeuveau
Conveniently located to serve the areas of New York, NY
Jeuveau is an injectable cosmetic that improves the appearance of moderate to severe lines and wrinkles by temporarily relaxing the underlying muscles. Like Botox, it is made with a purified form of botulinum toxin. These injectables reduce muscle activity in the treated areas, allowing patients to achieve a more refreshed and relaxed look. Today, injectables with botulinum toxin are the most popular injectable for facial rejuvenation worldwide.(1)
Dr. John E. Sherman FACS and his team understand that natural-looking results are non-negotiable, regardless of the procedure being performed. What is Jeaveau?
Jeuveau is an injectable neuromodulator, which means it interrupts how the nervous system communicates with muscles for movement. After it’s injected in the muscles responsible for unwanted lines and wrinkles, the treated muscles aren’t able to receive the chemical signals from the nerves to contract, and so skin stays smooth. Like today’s other popular neuromodulators Botox, Xeomin, and Dysport, the active ingredient in these are modified versions of a toxin produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacteria. What makes these different injectables different, and Jeuveau so effective, is the specific strain of botulinum, and the purity of the toxin.
What Makes Jeuveau Different?
Jeuveau is one of the latest botulinum toxin approved by the FDA, hence its nickname “Newtox.” Jeuveau is making waves, (but smoothing wrinkles), and has quickly skyrocketed in popularity because of its rapid action and quick results. For some patients, this can mean a more potent and longer-lasting product. It’s FDA-approved to treat frown lines, also known as glabellar lines, or the “11’s.” It’s marketed in South Korea as Nabota, and is one of the most popular injectables on the market.(2) In the United States, Jeuveau has seen an immense rise in popularity among millennials, and studies have shown that it is particularly effective in younger patients.(3) One of the main advantages of botulinum toxin injections is that it’s also a preventative treatment: with less muscle contraction, there’s less opportunity for the formation of deep lines and wrinkles down the line.
But like any injectable, Jeuveau should only be administered by a trained healthcare professional who has experience administering these injections. As with all cosmetic treatments, there is a risk of side effects, such as temporary bruising, redness, or swelling at the injection site. It is important to follow your doctor’s instructions carefully and avoid massaging or manipulating the treated area to minimize this risk.

Ideal Candidates for Jeaveau
A good candidate for Jeuveau is someone who is looking to reduce the appearance of frown lines between the eyebrows. Ideal patients should not be pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant within the next four months as it is not known if the product can pass to the baby in utero or through breast milk. It is also important to note that Jeuveau should not be used in patients who are allergic to botulinum toxin or any of its components.
Personal Consultation
Before starting treatment, you should discuss any medical conditions and your current medications with Dr. Sherman to ensure that Jeuveau is safe for you. He will also evaluate your skin type, facial anatomy, and overall health to determine the most effective solution to your concerns.
Preparing for Jeuveau
To prepare for Jeuveau injections, you should avoid taking any blood-thinning medications for at least two weeks before treatment. This includes aspirin, ibuprofen, and other over-the-counter medications, as these may increase the risk of bruising or bleeding at the injection site.
You should also avoid drinking alcohol before the procedure, as this can lead to an increased risk of bruising. Additionally, you should avoid using products that may cause irritation in the treatment area.
The Procedure
The treatment itself is quick and painless, with most patients experiencing minimal discomfort during the injections. Mary Chan, BS, RN, will use a small gauge needle to inject Jeuveau into the muscles in strategic points above and between the eyebrows. The entire treatment typically takes less than 20 minutes and you can return to your regular activities immediately afterward.
Recovery and Results
Immediately following the treatment, you may experience some redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection site. These symptoms should resolve within a few days and can be minimized by avoiding massaging or manipulating the area.
Results from your Jeuveau injections can be seen in as little as 7-10 days after treatment, with the full effects taking up to a month.
The effects of Jeuveau last anywhere between 3-4 months, after which time you will need to return for another treatment in order to maintain results.
